Opening Remarks

Maharishi: ‘Jai Guru Dev. Dr Hagelin has expounded the message so clearly, beautifully, and completely that we can plunge into questions and answers from the press. The message has been completely given out. The message is for peace, happiness, prosperity, fulfilment, and, above all, invincibility for every nation.

‘The invincibility of every nation may be beyond the comprehension of those who are managing the affairs of their people in different countries, but they have to know something which they do not know now. This is the technology to raise their national consciousness to a high level of invincibility so their sovereignty really enjoys an exclusive position which cannot be shadowed by anyone or anything at any time.

‘The formula given by the President of the Peace Government, Dr John Hagelin, a quantum physicist and top scientist in the world, is the formula given by the tradition of Vedic Masters. They give the formula, which is within the self-referral consciousness of everyone and has a practical basis.

‘This formula is available to every government in our dear world on a level that is very dear to everyone—the light of God and one’s own religion. It does not matter whether one calls one’s religion by this name or that name. God is upheld, worshipped, adored, and beautifully sung throughout the ages in all the holy scriptures of every religion.

‘One can have the formula on the level of the physical sciences, as Dr Hagelin has beautifully described in his introductory remarks, and as has been taught in the world for at least the last fifty years through the tradition of the Vedic technology of administration—Raam Raj.
“Vedic” means pertaining to Total Knowledge. Pertaining to Total Knowledge is pertaining to the light of God—pertaining to one’s religion. So from the modern physical sciences, from the science of consciousness, or from the holy scriptures of every religion—from any and every angle—the approach is completely natural for everyone and for every nation.

‘It is open to every government to enjoy the supreme light of God in the national consciousness of its country, and to become what every head of state would like it to be. Every head of state is always thinking, “What more can I do for my people?” This is the very dear, parental role of the head of state of the government, but the head of state can only move with the knowledge that he has. He may have faith in science, faith in consciousness, or faith in religion; but faith, without practical achievement on that level, is only a theoretical satisfaction without much value on the practical, technological level.

‘Now is the time for everyone to know invincibility in a very natural manner from science, from religion, from within oneself, and from the functioning of the galactic universe. Dr Hagelin explains the whole theme of the Peace Government which is simply the government of the Unified Field, the government of the cosmic Constitution of the Universe, and the government of the will of God.

‘Here is a chance. With great love we invite everyone not to suffer when they can enjoy. Every head of state can now enjoy the fulfilment of his responsibility towards his people. He can enjoy seeing his people in fulfilment, affluence, and perfect health, without problems.

‘Nothing else is as important as accessing this field of Natural Law—the Unified Field, the self-referral field of consciousness, the light of God. Nothing is more important than achieving the dignity of the light of God, which has been sung throughout the ages, and now, in this scientific age, has been discovered in a very systematic manner. All the theories of the physical field have eventually come to the pure field of subjectivity, divinity in man. These words are very real words—not adorations. They are simple, meaningful words about the interior of every person, every national consciousness, and everything.

‘It is a joy to dwell on that level which is destined to let perfection flow in everyone’s life, in the life of every nation, and in the life of every galactic composition of the universe.’

Question: The Offer of Invincibility to Every Nation

Dr Hagelin: ‘There is a great deal of fascination about achieving national security and invincibility. In the United States, there have been presidential debates where neither candidate has expressed any kind of new knowledge or new methodology which would protect the nation against a terrorist attack. The first question is: Maharishi speaks often about how his programmes can make any nation invincible. Invincibility is certainly a grand and noble goal. Today, most governments would be satisfied just knowing they can minimize the likelihood of a terrorist attack or a foreign invasion. Why does Maharishi use such an absolute and seemingly unattainable term as “invincibility”? Can Maharishi really make a nation invincible?’ 

Maharishi: ‘I am offering and inviting every nation to rise to invincibility. Invincibility is the field that I am tackling now. There was a time fifty years ago when I started to indicate that the transcendental field of reality is the basis of all relative fields. Now I am talking of the practical influence of this transcendental field on every aspect of the relative field of daily life.

‘This is an advancement. This is the achievement of the efforts of my global Movement. For the last fifty years, the accumulated effect of coherence created by individuals in their lives here, there, and everywhere has globally purified the collective consciousness of the world.

‘We are now offering to purify world consciousness further—one more step ahead—so that level of purity will never be challenged by anyone. Invincibility to every nation is on the basis of invincibility to every individual because the individual is the unit of his nation. Invincibility to the individual is on the level of the Unified Field. No more testing of this is necessary. It is all proven through technology and through mathematical calculations and formulas.

‘This is the time that the ultimate reality of life can be practically harnessed by the simple mind of anyone diving into the transcendent when practising Transcendental Meditation and coming to the self-referral level. It is on its own. Nothing can reach, disturb, shake, or over-shadow this level, and this is why it is the eternal field of invincibility. Through direct experience it is available.

‘We want to be generous and give this experience to everyone now by putting it in the curricula of schools, colleges, and universities. For this we are starting Universities of World Peace so the next generation of youth will have the awareness of Total Knowledge which will be absolutely unshakeable by any situation from outside. The individual will no longer be a slave to situations and circumstances. Every individual will be master of his area of concern. . . .

‘Everyone likes to be self-sufficient and undisturbable by others. Some would like to be undisturbable at a certain level, but beyond that level they give up. They surrender and are captured.

‘We are talking about a level of intelligence which is so much on its own that it cannot be captured by anything. It is invincible. This is the essential nature of the Unified Field within the self-referral consciousness of everyone. Dr Hagelin has so beautifully, scientifically, convincingly, and simply explained that it is a natural state.

‘When we are offering invincibility to every nation, what are we offering? Nothing new or strange. We are offering the natural status of everyone. We are not bringing any new offer. We are only reminding everyone that, “You are here where everything is a possibility.” Intellectually, we tell them; experientially, we make them dive into that field saying, “Here you are beyond any reach of boundary. Therefore, it is right to say you have stepped onto the field of invincibility.” This religions enjoy as the light of God, scientists enjoy as the Unified Field, and Vedic scientists enjoy as self-referral consciousness—something very natural.

‘Education is just an instrument, or a system, reminding a person about his own inner characteristic quality. His own inner characteristic quality is the Unified Field, without boundaries, on that level of invincibility.

‘All the various structures of goodwill were a meaningful effort for centuries. Now they will be a meaningful effort not on the level of hope but on the level of the practical realization of that which cannot be disturbed, dismantled, or shadowed by anything. This is invincibility, the Unified Field, just the simple field of the light of God, self-referral consciousness.

‘The whole thing is very, very simple. One just needs to remind a man that his real Self, his reality, is invincibility. It is a beautiful area. All our children will enjoy being masters of their own destiny. It won’t be very long now because systems of communication are so efficient. Remaining in one place, they take us throughout the world in a moment.’

Question: National Invincibility in a Volatile World

Dr Hagelin: ‘The next question is: Maharishi is offering to make any nation invincible, but in such a volatile world, can just one nation become invincible while other nations remain violent and aggressive? And if not, what value will come to a country if it is the first to introduce Maharishi’s approach?’

Maharishi: ‘It will shine as the shining sun and will be a shining example for all others to get into that state.

‘More than half the countries in our world are poor countries. Those that call themselves rich countries offer the poor countries help and money to develop their programmes. But when they offer them the money, they tell them, “You have to have democracy. You have to have a system of administration where the government will change every four years. . . .”

‘We want every country to rise to invincibility on the basis of the knowledge of the invincible light of God and the invincibility within the Unified Field—self-referral consciousness. . . .

‘The world needs that knowledge of invincibility which is deep within everything. It is the duty of the press to inform the people and save the people from getting into the mud. The Global Country of World Peace has the very liberal financial policy of His Majesty Raja Raam which offers them help, invincibility, and a stable government. Get away from democracy.’

Question: Creating National Invincibility

Dr Hagelin: ‘Maharishi, there is one final question on the subject of invincibility. If a government is interested in Maharishi’s programme to make a nation invincible, what exactly is involved in introducing the programme? What should the government do first?’

Maharishi: ‘The government should desire to be invincible, steady, and perpetually successful in its parental role for the people. Government has only to desire.

‘Government is sovereign everywhere, but sovereignty should not remain a begging bowl. All these small countries, they are sovereign, but one day they are here, tomorrow they are there, and the third day they are there. This is not sovereignty. Sovereignty is in the light of God, the light of Natural Law, which is sung by the holy texts of religious books, mathematically worked out to be real from the equations of the physical sciences, and practically demonstrated through the technologies of consciousness. The whole thing is there. And there is no reason why any country should submit to these mischief mongers and have to accept to be unstable all the time.

‘A government has a parental role for the children. What will happen to the children if they are asked to select new parents every four years? This is what is happening to the whole population. . . .

‘Now the glory of Total Knowledge is awake. It is awake on the scientific level, the religious level, and every level. It is the reality of the inner life of everyone and every nation. . . .’

Question: How Buildings Can Have Positive Effects

Dr Hagelin: ‘Maharishi, this is a follow-up question from the national conference on Maharishi Vedic Architecture held last week at The Raj in Maharishi Vedic City. The conference attracted hundreds of top architects and developers from throughout the country. During the conference, many people reported on the changes they have experienced since moving into a Maharishi Vedic home. Some of the testimonials were so dramatic they almost defied belief: completely transformed relationships among family members, greater success on the job, overcoming diseases, and so forth. I can understand how deep meditation might be able to produce such benefits, but how can something as seemingly superficial as the building where you live create such sweeping changes in all aspects of life?’

Maharishi: ‘This is the miracle of knowledge: how to do things so that the individual and the innate cosmic character are both fulfilled. How to do things so that the doing is neither foreign to the individual level nor to the cosmic level and is at home with the total reality.

‘This is just a matter of law—knowing the law or not knowing the law, functioning according to law or not functioning according to law. For example, when one makes a bridge, there are laws regarding how you do this and that. If one doesn’t build according to these laws, then the bridge collapses. It is very clear.

‘The relationship of the individual with the cosmos is beyond the human intellect. It is pure intelligence in the Unified Field, where the Unified Field flows. The Sanskrit expression for it is, “Purnat Purnam Udachyate”, flow of fullness into fullness into fullness. This is living Unity.

‘So, living Unity or not living in Unity: there must be some difference between the two, yes? Now, in this scientific age, all levels of reality are calculable in mathematically expressed equations. If one wants to know what something is, there are equations. In this scientific age, nothing is hidden from view.

‘That is why we have the courage to declare that invincibility, which is the field of the transcendent, is now available on every surface of life. So we say, “Now live invincibility. Don’t worry about the past.”

‘As Dr Hagelin has said in one little remark, “Today’s science is today’s science.” The science of two hundred years ago was the science of two hundred years ago, and the science of ten years ago was the science of ten years ago. But today’s science floats on the totality—Unity. It is a different time and a different world—nothing old. It is a very beautiful thing.’
