November 2006 Press Conference Highlights Maharishi:
‘Jai
Guru Dev. Yes, Dr Hagelin, I was listening to your absolutely marvelous
expositions to the world press. It will be a joy to answer their questions.’ Question:
Cycles of Time Dr
Hagelin: ‘Thank you very much, Maharishi. There is one
question that is probably a question only Maharishi could address. Maharishi
has said that the meditation techniques he is teaching are as old as mankind.
But they have been unavailable for centuries. Why is this knowledge, that
has been lost for so long, coming out to the world now? What makes this
particular time in history so special compared to, say, one hundred years
ago or five hundred years ago? Is it simply the acute need for national
security and national invincibility at this time in history?’ Maharishi:
‘It
is millions of years in the field of infinity. When we talk of infinity
going on, we talk of a huge circle going on—a circle, circle, circle,
all the circles. And “a circle going on” means sometimes up,
sometimes down, sometimes left, sometimes right. This change of quality
continues, absolutely continues. So it is inevitable that what we call
the wheel of time is sometimes up, sometimes down, sometimes left, sometimes
right.
Question:
Effect
of Large Groups of Yogic Flyers Dr
Hagelin: ‘Thank you very much, Maharishi. And this one
more question certainly seems to be on the mind of the press. This is
a big day today. Election results are being released. The question is:
do we have any reflections on the surprising changeover of leadership
in the United States? What impact do we see that large groups of Yogic
Flyers may have on the destiny of the nation?’ Maharishi:
‘What
we know is one word about it, “change” and then change, and
then change, and then change, until it comes to a point that change will
be less and less frequent, and stability, Totality, sameness will be more
and more pervading. So in our estimation, we do not actually mind what
happens in the field of politics, in economics, in society, in all that—no.
We just quietly see the changes and smile. We just see the changes and
smile. All these changes and all that—we expect them, because it
is our creation. We are creating a more and more integrated national life
in every country. So the country has to become more and more affluent,
more and more healthy, more and more positive. |
