Opening Remarks

Maharishi: Jai Guru Dev. If people want to hear me, put on again what Dr Hagelin has just described. It is such a beautiful elaboration of practical science—science and technology—that is now being delivered to every home. Take it as it comes to you. Do not delay.

‘Dr Hagelin, you have said enough, so simply, to every hearer today, in supplement of all the past weeks that you have been speaking. Ask them if there are any questions to ask. I said last time, if they hear from me, they will be bored that I am always saying the same thing. But I have the answer, and I do not make the answer roundabout. The answer is direct.

‘And what is direct? Man is made in the image of God. These are very sacred words, the essence of every religion, that remind us that man has a right to live and radiate the full Light of God—peace, prosperity, happiness, integrity, problem-free advances, living the goal of life in infinite bliss, living the Constitution of the Universe, which is there in the nature of everyone’s consciousness. Everyone’s consciousness is the Constitution of the Universe, which maintains with perfect order infinite diversity in unity.

‘When you think about it, can you imagine what power is bestowed to everyone in their human physiology? Our scientists of this generation and our Vedic Scholars of all generations have been singing and have been ringing the bell of “eureka” for everyone. The Vedic Constitution of the Universe is the birthright of everyone. We have opened schools and we are going to open schools and colleges everywhere to make this available to the youngsters of every generation so they will know how to make use of total Natural Law—the infinite Creative Intelligence of total Natural Law—in their own tender thinking, in their tender decisions, in their tender feelings.

‘Man is that enormously, enormously competent machine created by God that is able to reflect the totality of Creative Intelligence of the almighty God. Now, the greatest physical scientists have realized that all physical science is an expression of the science of consciousness—the science of Being, the science of existence, the science of intelligence. This science is so thorough and complete that it is as much technology, in its own right, as it is science. It is theory and its application in practice.

‘It is a complete science and technology in itself. This is what we are now bringing in the tradition of schooling the children in every generation. This we are doing, very soon. Ever since Dr Hagelin declared the onset of the Peace Government, we are continuing at our own pace, at our own steady pace. The effect in the whole world consciousness is beginning to appear, and darkness is disappearing with the onset of light rising day by day.

‘I do not have to describe the mechanics of how this is achieved. Dr Hagelin is the greatest scientist. He can express in scientific language that Vedic Science functions within itself and produces the results within itself.

‘The world is fortunate. We are happy to be instrumental in establishing a system of administration which is already in practice in every part of the world. The whole galactic universe, with infinite diverse values, is continuously administered by the Constitution of the Universe, which is science and technology both in itself. It is subjective and has creditability with the objective approach of science which has a peep into it, a whisper into it, a stir into it. It is very creditable to objective science to have launched on a subjective field completely from the objective values—mathematical values, calculations, all one and one, two, and two and two—a very hard rigid discipline with countable quantities that are not only abstract philosophical, verbal expressions, but are also translated into physical performances.

‘Raja Raamji has given such a great gift to the world. His research declaring every aspect of physiology to be an expression of consciousness has given a very perfect possibility for everyone to combine the infinity of the variety outside and the infinity of unity inside, at the junction point where consciousness is infinite in its singularity and infinite in its multiplicity. Words are not able to convey the reality of that angle. That is the angle wherefrom all the angles take their existence and their authority and authenticity.

‘Dr Hagelin, what a beautiful world you are making. Born in this generation, your gift will be for all generations to come. What is going to happen? The students in their student age—ten, twelve, fifteen, twenty years—will create a fully integrated national consciousness. This fully integrated national consciousness will be the platform on which the administration of the country will be spontaneously administering everything in the most perfect manner. There are going to be no problems for anyone; there is going to be nothing negative, nothing wrong, nothing that is not enjoyable. This is the age that this scientific age is going to produce in the world.

‘Make hay when the sun shines. We are establishing our organization all around the world. Raja Raamji has brought it on the level of politics, on the level of economics, on the level of engineering, on the level of science, and on the level of technology. There is nothing which cannot be perfected on the ground of this total knowledge of Natural Law.

‘Dr Hagelin, continue to invite the leaders of the world press. And continue to enjoy the time that is coming, that is dawning day by day, in the increasing intensity of the Light of God. Governments are going to be spontaneously administering their countries with more and more perfection. Government will find administration on the level of automation. Children of the country—children of ten, twenty, fifteen years—practicing Yogic Flying in their classes will create a ground for perfect administration in every country.

‘There will not be these nationwide conflicts—one party against another party. The whole thing is such a shame in the civilized world. We see this in every country in the name of democracy. . . . It is not in favour of the integrity of any nation. It is only in the interest of a nation who has the administrative policy of “divide and rule”.

‘ “Divide and rule” creates dissension, creates opposition, creates parties against parties, parties against parties. . . . This is such a shame to a civilization which then cannot have any truthful existence. You make the people quarrel like dogs. Then you see when they keep quiet, you throw one more loaf of bread, and the dogs begin to bark at each other and fly at each other—such a bad system of democracy.

‘The time is coming when my programme is going to create such a high, high, indomitable level of coherence in world consciousness that the barking of the dogs will stop on the streets. It is enough; it has been enough. There has been enough demonstration of vulgar civilization where one cannot bear the sight of the other one, where one pounces on the other. This is the ideal of administration many countries openly admire. . . .

‘These governments say, “I will destroy anyone who is not democratic, because they are not democratic.” All this stupidity is prevailing. The world consciousness should challenge all these useless people who say, “Have democracy, otherwise, I will fell you.” They can send them some arms and kill, but what will happen when the tornadoes aim at your buildings, at your cars and your drivers? Take a lesson from that. Let the countries take a lesson from the increasing number of tornadoes and all those things. Take a lesson. Be a man of a civilized civilization and do not be dragged out into the thorny bush.

‘Man’s civilization has gone into ruins. But whatever may be the damage in darkness, we know how to bring the light on, and the darkness will disappear. It is disappearing now. We would have liked it to do it with a flash of intention, but probably we are not so much grounded in ourselves to create that miraculous “light on” so that, with the thought, peace prevails on earth. But we are trying. We are trying. We are putting our people here, there, everywhere. As our time goes on, we will continue to try.

‘But I pity the sense of life. Is this a civilization brought about by science? This is the end of any human sense in civilization. This is because people do not know that they are living and working in wrongly built homes. The science of ancient architecture coordinates the architecture of the human body with the house where the body lives and the home of the house—the city where the house is planned.

‘What is the nation’s planning? The center of the nation should be the capital of administration. In city planning, in relation to other cities, the roads should be properly straight north, south, east, west. Homes should always be in the prescribed direction. East is the most fortunate direction for a house.

‘Our expert, Dr Eike Hartmann, is preparing a video, which people should see. The capital of every country is so badly designed with wrongly oriented western entrances, southern entrances, and no proper orientation to the north, south, east, and west. In the great Washington, DC, great London, great New York, great Paris, and all, the whole thing is a hodgepodge from the understanding of the ancient, eternal, Vedic Architecture. All these capitals have to be demolished.

‘We have started a programme for reconstruction of the world. I do not know how much the world press has understood this. The world has to be recreated. People who are living in wrongly-directed homes do not know that due to the wrong orientation of their house, they are suffering, their children are not good, and they are fighting each other—this whole thing.

‘Take the capital of England. This has been a country which is always fighting. Their administrative skill is famous, “divide and rule”. This is because, when we look at the buildings of the government buildings, the Thames is on the south. When we examine the buildings, they must be demolished unless the British people want to continue to be what they have been. Otherwise, the time for everyone is to be reversed. It is said, “The lack of knowledge of law is no excuse.” Whatever the Britishers do, they will always be blocking their own fortune.

‘I am not a fortuneteller. I am a Vedic Scientist. And in Vedic Science, the construction of the capitals has to be very delicately in tune with the directions in the country—north, south, east, west—proper directions. These are the values I have to tell more simply. I am not criticizing. I am just alerting the Britishers that they can redo their forefathers’ ignorance about how to design a house.

‘Why are the capitals of every country so unsuccessful? The administration of government is unsuccessful everywhere. Governments that are governing are unsuccessful. Those who are being governed are always crying out against them. Why? Because the administrative buildings are not constructed according to Vedic Architecture, which is Sthapatya Veda. For centuries you can keep on conjecturing, but in whatever way you go, you will be blocking your fortune in every generation by administering the people from wrongly oriented buildings—that is all. There is no escape from there.

‘One thing is housing according to Sthapatya Veda. The other thing is the prevention from the effect of one’s own wrongdoing in the past. This prevention from the influence of our own misdoing, from our own sinful actions in the past, is the technology of Graha Shanti. When the effect of the past sinful doing comes to one, diseases come, problems come, failures come. But Vedic Knowledge has the programmes to neutralize the negativity coming on today. One says, “I did so much wrong to so many people and all that, which is called ‘sin.’ The effect of it must come to me.” There is no escape from there. As you sow, so shall you reap. One does not know how, “Suddenly, today I got fever.” All that is due to the misdoing, mishandling of the body in the past.

‘For the prevention from the effect of the wrongdoing of the past generations, there is a system in Vedic living. The influence of past karma can be stopped from coming to us now. This prevention is also as important as the importance of proper Vastu.

‘These are the two things. Do the Yagya in order to prevent the influence of the wrongs that we have done to others in the past. This is one thing. And live in Vastu buildings built according to Sthapatya Veda. This is the second thing.

‘The third is to learn to make use of the total brain. Dr John Hagelin has been hammering on the whole world population every week that the Transcendental Meditation Technique makes use of the total brain functioning. Not using the total brain, is like living without having the proper amount of money in your pocket. When you enter the market, you enter as a poor man. So it is necessary to practice Transcendental Meditation, and then the single mind expands to its potential—to cosmic status. This is very necessary for life to be really, fully worthwhile.

‘So use Sthapatya Veda for housing, and for the prevention of effects of the past doings use this Yagya, and the third is thing is to make the individual mind rise to the strength of cosmic mind. This is through Transcendental Meditation. What is the proof of all this? The proof is the practice of Yogic Flying. Just by a thought, you can make such heavy weight of the body rise up in the air. It is through a thought, a thought. It is not a joke. It is the reality of the strength of the mind that controls the greatest controlling power of nature, the force of gravity—the law of gravity that regulates the entire order of the galactic universe.

‘It is essential for everyone to be the cosmic mind. This is essential for everyone. To live in proper Vastu buildings is essential for everyone. To prevent the effects of the wrongdoing of the past is essential for everyone. These three things must be introduced to children at their time of gaining knowledge—between ten, twelve, fifteen years. Then the national consciousness will be free from all these shameful conflicts—shouting this and shouting that. It is such a shameful thing; it is out of the civilized world.

‘We are creating very quietly; we are moving to administer the power of silence. We are administering the power of silence. In very clear terms, we have to announce this to the world again and again and again and again. Some people like it; some people do not like it, but we do not mind. We say what we feel is right.

‘Dr Hagelin, last week I also asked what else we can do. Ask the world press, because the world press is the victim of all the wrongdoing. They have to report it. This is called politics, but the whole thing is a shameful human existence—that is all.

‘So come to be on a very rightful and just life on earth. And you will be making your children the exalted controller of the power of order in the world. They will be creating order in the country.

‘We are creating schools and colleges, everywhere. And this is all that we can do. We have the organization. Raja Raamji has created a very ideal system of administration. He is quietly moving the silence; he is quietly moving and is turning the wheels of silence. He is creating an ideal government. He is setting an example of how to administer. His own government is a global government. From where it is being administered? It is being administered from the mind of man.

‘Here and there and everywhere, the Rajas are being trained. Dr Hagelin, you can announce when the new course for the Rajas will be—from what time, from what day—on the coming full moon. Here is a chance for the world, a chance for the wise, a chance for the fortunate to plunge into the opportunity. Follow the old proverb, “Make hay when the sun shines.” The sun will plentifully shine, but for your sake do not wait for the next day. You make hay now, now, now, now.

‘Do not waste time. Join all these programmes of creating these new homes. Live in new homes. Send your children to new schools and colleges. Make your mind new every day for a few minutes morning and evening at home. And build Peace Palaces everywhere in order to have a solid foundation for a civilized human civilization.
‘Dr Hagelin, what more we can say?’

Question: The Signs of Silence Ruling the World

Dr Hagelin: ‘Maharishi, that was a very complete, extraordinary exposition—so profound and so practical. The answer to the question, “What more can we do?”, is contained in Maharishi’s exposition itself.

‘The first question from the press is very interesting. It is about a comment Maharishi made last week. Maharishi said, “When the Constitution of the Universe upholds the man-made constitutions of every country, then deep silence will reign in the world, and all of life will be in the blissful waves of the ocean of silence.” Maharishi, what will be the concrete signs in daily life when silence rules the world?’

Maharishi: Every stroke of dynamism will be peaceful, because that is the reality—the unity of two values, peace and non-peace. When peace is absent in non-peace, then non-peace—destructive dynamism—takes over. When peace prevails, dynamism will not be able to tire the man, and dynamism will not be able to strain the physiology or mind or intellect or ego. So strain will be not there. Life will be a flow of bliss. No one will meet with anything that may be labeled as unfortunate. That will be the coming time that we are heading towards.

Question: The System of Justice in A More Enlightened Age

Dr Hagelin: ‘Maharishi has dismissed the system of justice of courts and judges as being arbitrary and unjust. A person who commits a crime may receive one sentence from one judge, only to have the sentence completely changed on appeal by the next judge. How will the system of justice work in a more enlightened age? If someone does make a mistake—if someone does commit a crime—how will justice be served?’

Maharishi: Lawyers will not be required to speak lies. Lawyers want to take money, and as a reward of money, they want to win the case, “Whether right or not, you give me money, and I will win the case.” This kind of justice is very unjust at its own basis. So the whole knowledge of law, put in professional terms, makes a man very unsuitable to the truth of life.

‘Lawyers [laughter]—everyone knows the whole thing. Justice should not be on the basis of someone else talking about the wrong. The two people know, “He did this to me; he did that to me.” The system of justice should not require a third and fourth person to interpret what he did.

‘What did he do? If you want to know who did it, you take their horoscope. You take their horoscopes, and find out what the Grahas were of him and of him. Those two Grahas were not compatible, and they fought.

‘Justice is a mockery today—absolute mockery—because justice is conceived by human intelligence. Human intelligence is always full of human weaknesses and full of human failings. The whole justice department in the world—listen to what I am saying—the whole justice department of the world, the justice department in every country, is a mockery of justice. It is complete mockery of justice. A man did such a thing to that man somewhere, and the courts are sitting two hundred kilometers away, and the fight was ten days ago. The lawyer comes from a different big town, the judge hears the people, and he makes his very wrong evaluations. So in the name of justice, what prevails is injustice, injustice, injustice.

‘Another laughable feature about the present justice system in every country is that now the courts give the judgment on behalf of the government. There is the lower court, the higher court, this court, that court—so many levels of court. The justice given by one court is also the justice given by the government. This same justice is turned around; then the same government has turned around its own version of who was wrong. The third time one makes an application, it is turned around again—a third time. So these justices and their drama make the whole field of justice a mockery and a shame to a civilized society. There is no justice. The three levels of justice are molded in different directions by different lawyers, different lawyers, different lawyers.

‘So there is no truthfulness in the system of justice that any government provides to their people—plain and simple. Whatever arguments, no argument will withstand that. Justice is only injustice.

‘Now look to the foolery of the justice system in every government. A man has committed some mistake with the other—two years, three years, five years, twenty years before. And he has passed away, he has gone to heaven. His son is taken up, or his son’s sons are taken up. The whole thing is not manly; it is not right. From any point of view, it is not right. The whole justice department is very, very, very wrong—the same way as everything of the government is a wrong value.

‘Our plan is that the young boys in the schools and colleges, doing Yogic Flying in their morning and afternoon classrooms, will create a coherent national consciousness—positive national consciousness. Raja Dean, Raja of Washington, DC, talked to me some days before. He said, “What to do?” I said, “You are the Raja of the Capital; you are Raja of Washington. You make an announcement that ‘In my domain, in my administration, in my territory, I wish to inform everyone that, rightfully, no one has a right to be a citizen of Washington, no one has a right to be a decision-maker of Washington, if he is strained or if he is sick, because one drop of poison will take away the whole bottle of nectar. Anyone who is strained, living in Washington, should have his home outside Washington, because Washington is the capital of the greatest creative country of the world. So why should the weak man—one weak man, one wrong man, one inadequate, unfortunate, single individual—remain a citizen of Washington when he is creating mud in the collective consciousness of Washington?’ ”

‘This was the aspiration of the Raja of Washington. He would like to invite everyone nicely and kindly, “Please, if you want to be in Washington, I have my teachers who will teach you how to do Transcendental Meditation, morning and evening, and you will not entertain stress. And when you do not entertain stress, then you will be the right citizen of the capital of the country.”

‘Look to the direction of thinking that is developing through our programmes here, there, everywhere. This is one example. Raja Dean, the Raja of Washington, had this aspiration. He may announce this someday. He may announce that he will issue passports of the citizenship of Washington. And he will see that each man meditates, has higher states of consciousness, and practices Yogic Flying, so that he has a rightful possession of the citizenship of Washington, according to the law of the Peace Government.

‘It is very interesting. Dr Hagelin, comment on that and tell them all. This is what our trained Rajas are bringing to awareness: new values of administration, new values of life. Tell them, very soon, not only in Washington, every mayor has his domain in the city, so every citizen will have no right to be strained in brain physiology or heart physiology or whatever. No strained man, no sick man, no suffering man will be allowed to be within the mayor’s range.

‘Very soon this will happen, as more and more people begin to live in Sthapatya Veda buildings—very soon. It will not take a long time, because we have access to this fast communication in the world.
‘Dr Hagelin, comment on this. It is a very enjoyable point for everyone to know.’

Question: The Knowledge Studied in Vedic Medical Colleges

Dr Hagelin: ‘Maharishi, one last question has to do with health and Vedic Medicine. Last week, Maharishi said that the study of a disorder, the study of a disease, on the level of the physiology in order to treat the disease is a waste of time, and that only by addressing the problem at its root in the field of consciousness can order be restored in the physiology. Maharishi also announced that he is establishing Vedic Medical Colleges to offer training in Vedic Medicine. My question is: What knowledge and what skills will students learn in these Vedic Medical Colleges that will enable them, as Maharishi put it, to wake up consciousness in the physiology of their patients in order to create order in a disorderly physiology?’

Maharishi: The complexity of the process of rising disorder is like a leaf rising in disorder. It is becoming sick this way or that way—yellow or whatever. Like that, every aspect of the flower or fruit or branches, anything, becomes sick. The whole focus of attention on the physiology, with all its innumerable differences, is really what you said, “a waste of time”. It is a waste of time of every individual to study physiology, this and this and this. I know that the study of physiology is only study in the name of health. But I what I am saying, I am making obvious with an example of so many expressions of the sap in the tree.

‘Ultimately, what will be intelligent, what will be wisdom, is to water the root and enjoy the fruit. In so many different ways, so many different aspects of physiology have started to suffer, like that. The study of that is a waste of time, because without studying them, you can know how to water the root. Put some fertilizer in the water; just water the root. Thereby, you have given nourishment to all the tree—all the branches, all the flowers, all the fruits—at one time.

‘The present civilization is focusing on the physical, physical, physical, when Maharaja Raam has already discovered that whatever is called physiology is the expression of consciousness. So whatever change you want to do in the physiology, you can easily do from the level of consciousness. So attend to the consciousness level, and you will be better off.

‘So the whole life will not go wasted in gaining the knowledge of this physiological expression, that physiological expression. That was all right in the days of ignorance, when whatever was there, you wanted to know it. But now, we have a word, “consciousness”. This is the total expression of all the innumerable values of physical forms and names and qualities and quantities.

‘There is an Upanishadic saying from the Vedic Knowledge about reality. The expression is, “Know that by knowing which everything gets known.” That is: Know Atma, know consciousness, know intelligence, know your Self. When you are knowledgeable about your Self, then you are totally knowledgeable. Then your all-knowledgeability will give you the knowledge of anything, anytime you want.

‘The Vedic technique of gaining knowledge, Total Knowledge, is to grab Totality first, and then analyse the unified Totality, and then synthesize again the analysed expression of reality. So analysis and synthesis—synthesis, analysis, synthesis. But the first point of knowledge should be Totality.

‘The first point in the Vedic Literature, the first word of Veda, is “A”. Within “A”, the whole field of knowledge—all the syllables, all the alphabets, all the consonants—is there within it. This is the cognition of the Veda. The cognition of the Veda is a simple cognition of one single syllable “A”, from where the whole stream of Vedic Knowledge emerges.

‘So the Totality is to be known first. And then, on that basis, everything is easy. If you do not know the Totality, then you are scattered in the diversity.

‘The Vedic Knowledge is a different thing; it is a different thing. In a very short time, one gets Total Knowledge. Otherwise, with whatever is the highest degree in every field of knowledge, the man cannot say he knows everything. In the Vedic learning, after some time, the boy says, “Yes, Aham Brahmasmi, I am Totality. Tat Tvam Asi, thou art That also. All this is also That.” The boys, within a few lessons, begin to know, “Yes, Totality; yes, Totality; yes, Totality; yes, Totality.”

‘The whole field of ignorance, the whole field of suffering, is because of lack of knowledge. Now, with Transcendental Meditation, we found a simple way, a simple procedure, given to us by our Guru Dev to open our awareness to a level where “I am unbounded, I am infinite, cosmic, and all those values.”

‘So it does not matter that the world has gone wrong for so long. The Vedic saying is, “From whatever knowledge you are awake, you are awake”—that is all. So this is the time of Total Knowledge. And it does not matter, we are going to have, sometime, a Vedic system of education, and the world is going to be a better world.
