Question: The Real United Nations

Dr Hagelin: ‘Jai Guru Dev. Maharishi, we received a press release this week about the establishment of what is called “the Real United Nations for World Peace.” What is this organization, what will it do that the current UN is not doing, and what is its relationship to the Peace Governments around the world?’ 

Maharishi: ‘Jai Guru Dev. The words are very simple. “Real” means real. “United” means really unified nations, all the nations in togetherness. This is to be a real structure, a real phenomenon—something real. . . . 

‘ “United Nations” means all the nations are in one holistic structure with all the different energies of the different nations unified. Everyone would like to have nations in harmony with each other. . . . 

‘The life of anyone—an individual, society, or a nation—has two aspects, which Dr Hagelin, a great scientist, described so beautifully as the Unified Field and the diversified field. It is the diversified field and the Unified Field. The Unified Field is a reality. Based on unity, the source of all diversity, the United Nations will be a Real United Nations.

‘The “Real United Nations” means every nation will be really enjoying the strength, energy, vitality, freshness, and harmony of all the nations together. It is now possible for us to establish this for all the future because of the knowledge of Natural Law seen from the modern scientific point of view in the Unified Field, and the most ancient record of the Constitution of the Universe, which regulates innumerable suns, moons, stars, and galaxies.  

‘The ever-expanding galactic universe is governed by law. That law is real, invincible law. Being invincible, it cannot be influenced by others, and is absolute, eternal, and self-referral. All that one knows about the Unified Field, one knows. What one knows that to be is the basis of all life, self-referral consciousness.  

‘The unified, united, Real United Nations means nations based on that reality which is the basis of all the diversity of all nations. That is our pride. We are establishing in our world, in our generation, a Real United Nations on the basis of the real Unified Field, which is at the basis of all diversity.  

‘Diversity is not being denied here. Diversity is being spontaneously administered from its basis, like the innumerable leaves, branches, flowers, and fruits of a tree are served from the root. A gardener waters the root and supplies nourishment to all the expressions of the tree. Like that, the Unified Field, the Constitution of the Universe, is the real basis of unity. Through the attention of some people, unity comes up to be lived in the diversity of daily life and the diversity of nations. The Real United Nations is going to offer that administrative intelligence which will be unifying, harmonizing, and integrating all the nations on the earth and all the galaxies in the heavens. . . . 

‘The Real United Nations will make every nation enjoy the strength, creativity, wealth, and dignity of all nations. The Real United Nations will bring to every aspect of life the basic, fundamental reality of the transcendental field of self-referral consciousness, as discovered through modern science in terms of the Unified Field, and as sung throughout the ages as the glory of God through prayers, holy words, and the holy scriptures of all religions as the divine, the divinity, the law of divinity. 

‘Law is there, whether it is holistic law or partial law. The Real United Nations, which is the real breath of the Government of Peace, will safeguard the potential of every individual, and groups of individuals of every nation, as well the groups of nations. It is a very beautiful creation.  

‘We have a very soft feeling for the elderly people of our world who do not have this knowledge from religion, the existing United Nations, or the most ideal Constitution of the Universe. They are not educated in it, yet they have grown in age. For them, we have a very soft corner in our hearts. We admire them as our elders, but times have changed. We are on a level of something so precious, the basis of all life—the unity of all laws, the unity of all nations, the unity of all individuals. We have now established the Real United Nations. . . . 

‘The Real United Nations is the reality of the unity of the family of nations where everyone partakes of the life of the other. In this case, everyone partakes of the bliss of everyone else. So one enjoys and multiplies one’s own bliss with the bliss of everyone around. Everyone will be living their full creative potential, which is bliss. This is the potential of the Real United Nations. . . .

‘The Real United Nations will have its educational programme in all the countries, or at least in a few groups of 8,000 Yogic Flyers. These groups will maintain a very coherent quality in world consciousness in which the cosmic potential of life will be the living platform for every nation.

‘This Real United Nations is to be “real”, just the word “real”. The word “real” is applicable to all aspects of life and knowledge—real knowledge. Where is the real knowledge? Real knowledge is when the total brain, the whole brain, functions. When the whole brain functions, then the consciousness is fully awake and is a field of unlimited infinity, eternal, beyond space and time, beyond boundaries. It is the cosmic potential of individual life, the divinity in man. The Real United Nations is a platform where all have that fundamental level of creativity in which Totality flows.  

‘Life is wholeness; life is not fragmented. The fragmentation of life, as one lives and functions through the senses, is a divided field of life. But the undivided unity, eternity, infinity, and absolute value of the Unified Field, which is unobstructed by anything else, is real life. Society has to grow to that level. The organization of this society, which will take every country to that cosmic level of structure and status, has a name: the Real United Nations. 

‘The present United Nations should not feel disappointed, because on a staircase every step has its importance. So many different kinds of administration have been in the world, and each has had its place. The Real United Nations is a characteristic which belongs to every step in the evolutionary direction. The Real United Nations is the fundamental right of everyone.  

‘The eyes, ears, sense of touch, sense of hearing—all the different senses all function together. The functioning of the body has innumerable performances simultaneously. So unity is already in function. It is eternally functioning. That is the most natural, most rewarding functioning, in which no aspect of one’s life is left out. Every aspect of one’s life is fully utilized in every wave of living.  

‘This is going to be the Real United Nations. It is going to be the fulfilment of all the experimental values which the world has had from time to time, from century to century, and from age to age. Now, it is completely within our reach to have a Real United Nations that will be administered through total Natural Law—not five, ten, twenty, or ninety percent. Not all these different states of consciousness, but one hundred percent Natural Law, will be through proper education.  

‘Now the whole curriculum is ready. The great scientist, Dr Hagelin, is out now to light the candle of Total Knowledge in every educational organization. I am informed that many schools, colleges, universities, and thousands of students are responding to Dr Hagelin’s call. Dr Hagelin, you can inform them of the realization of our time that the students and teachers are waking up from their tiredness of having been exposed to the ordinary United Nations, and are now going to establish the Real United Nations.  

‘The Real United Nations will be on the level of the knowledge and action of the Unified Field. Once it is discovered, science should be on that level. No more test-tube science; now is the holistic science of consciousness. The Real United Nations is going to deliver to everyone the reality of his own life, his national life, the life of the world, and the universe.  

‘It is a very good development that has come up. Now the world will have the Real United Nations. What will this Real United Nations be? It will be a prevention-oriented, problem-free organization and administration—a real administration. It will be a real forum of governments based on the grand government of the ever-expanding, galactic diversity of the universe.  

‘It is a very beautiful development that is on the level where the United Nations will be a cosmic reality beyond any problem, disturbance, or fragmentation. It will be a holistic United Nations.  

‘When someone does an MA, it is no shame to the BA’s. When one does a Ph.D., it is no shame to the MA’s. These are all the steps. So the United Nations, as it has been with us for so many years, has done its work. On that basis now, the supreme United Nations has evolved as the fulfilment of the present United Nations.  

‘It is a very good, timely question from the press. We welcome everyone who is concerned with nations. Everyone who is concerned with nations is concerned with the United Nations. We will now have a supremely efficient, effective, graceful level of the United Nations, which is going to be a lasting United Nations with authority on its own. It is all-pervading and all-inclusive. It is for the good of everyone. 

‘Your Peace Government, Dr Hagelin, is going to be in the light of the Real United Nations, unifying all nations in one world, where every nation will enjoy the dignity, resourcefulness, intelligence, and creativity of all nations. A beautiful family of nations is going to emerge from this level of the Real United Nations. Its main purpose is total education—education of total Natural Law, the light of God, to guide the destiny of man who is made in the image of God. Such beautiful expressions have existed throughout the ages, but now they have come up to be in togetherness, in unity. We are enjoying the first flavour of it.

‘One has only to listen carefully again and again to Dr Hagelin’s short talks. He makes the whole complexity of total Natural Law in the Unified Field so simple, adorable, complete, and enjoyable that the world cannot remain a suffering world anymore.’

Question: Qualities of an Invincible Individual

Dr Hagelin: ‘This question, Maharishi, is on the qualities of an invincible man. Maharishi says the Transcendental Meditation Programme and its group practice can raise any nation to invincibility. Maharishi also says that Transcendental Meditation can raise any individual to a state of invincibility as well. I understand what it means for a nation to be invincible as this is a familiar phrase, but what does it mean for an individual to be invincible? Would he have no enemies, or would the enemies he has be unable to overpower him? What would life be like for a person who is invincible?’ 

Maharishi: ‘Invincibility will allow a man to fulfil his desires without obstacles and without great strain. There is one phrase in the Vedic Literature that speaks of the invincibility of the individual, nation, world, and cosmic life—invincibility at every step. “Heyam Dukham Anagatam.” 

‘Invincibility is that quality which is not disturbable by anything. On the individual level, this is applied to the ability to fulfil desires. If one desires a thing, and the desire gets supported by Natural Law, then the desire is fulfilled. When the desire is fulfilled, then I am invincible. When the desire is not fulfilled, then I am struggling to fulfil it. This struggle is no longer there in the field of invincibility.  

‘An individual is invincible when his desires get fulfilled. The fulfilment of a desire is the phenomenon of a desire consciously created at the source of thought. The source of thought is a wave in the ocean of consciousness. That wave in the ocean of consciousness is a wave of the ocean of consciousness—self-referral consciousness. When one thinks from the self-referral level of consciousness, the thought is like a wave, completely one with the unbounded level of the ocean. The wave is in perfect harmony with the source of all the waves, the ocean of intelligence, ocean of consciousness, Transcendental Consciousness. When a man is able to think spontaneously from the level of Transcendental Consciousness, then he may be labeled as invincible, because there is nothing that can obstruct his desires. 

‘Invincibility to the individual is at the source of thought. The same invincibility is on a cosmic level of intelligence. The individual level of intelligence and collective level of intelligence are the cosmic level of intelligence. 

‘ “Heyam Dukham Anagatam”, “Avert the danger that has not come”, is on the level of invincibility which is the self-referral consciousness of the individual, nation, and world—the Unified Field of nations—and the universe. Invincibility is the same thing on the universal level as on the world, national, social, and individual levels. This is invincibility.

‘In this invincibility, total brain physiology functions. Every aspect of the brain physiology participates in the sprouting of a desire. That desire is on a cosmic level and spontaneously gets fulfilled. This is the level of invincibility on the individual, social, national, international, global, and universal levels—all levels.  

‘Invincibility is invincibility. Wherever it is, it is the same invincibility which we call “self-referral intelligence”. When we want to enjoy it, we call it “the light of God”, self-referral intelligence, the Unified Field, the light of bliss, Veda. Its nature is bliss. It is bliss, unobstructed and unrestricted by anything, free from boundaries, unlimited, infinity. This is Unity Consciousness, consciousness where nothing is out of one’s own total value of awareness.  

‘This is Transcendental Consciousness, the fundamental field of intelligence, where all and everything is possible. All things are possible on the level of invincibility through practice.  

‘There is a scientific theory, the theory of measurement, which says wherever the attention goes, it enlivens the point of attention. The unmanifest field of reality manifests through attention and is found on the level of activity through all the five senses and five organs of action. Invincibility is a point of self-referral reality of one’s own consciousness. That is why, being one’s own possession, it is just a matter of attention, a matter of the memory of it. You have forgotten it. Remember it, and it is there.  

‘This is why it is very simple and easy to achieve. It just needs some practice, and then it comes on the level of action. Knowledge comes on the level of action. Intelligence becomes creative intelligence. It is just a matter of knowing it—knowing it by being it.  

‘This practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques are proven by the Yogic Flying technique. You think a thought, and the thought gets materialized. . . . Instantly the body lifts up in the air. The body being up in the air indicates, to whatever little extent, command over the force of gravity. This force of gravity is just a different name for the unifying principle, the unified state, and unifying mechanics. So gravity is unifying, and Yogic Flying shows instant control and command over gravity—for whatever little time. With practice, one becomes more and more at home with it.  

‘What becomes more and more at home? Invincibility becomes more and more at home. This is on the individual level. Infinity on the individual level is the unit of infinity on the collective level, the national level, international level, global level, and universal level. It boils down to raising one’s level to Unity Consciousness and behaving in diversity, but having a predominance of the quality of unity. This is Unity Consciousness.  

‘Education has to be such that one rises to the level of Unity Consciousness. In Unity Consciousness, invincibility is a practical status. It becomes a living reality. We have found that one, two, or three groups of 8,000 people practising Yogic Flying will have enough of a unifying influence on global consciousness that invincibility will belong more and more to everyone on the practical level of action, the level of doing. What will be dominating more and more in one’s thinking and action through practice? Invincibility will be dominating more and more.  

‘This is called Unity Consciousness. Life without that is like a dry desert. The experience of it is like an oasis coming up in a desert. We are going to have that education which will raise one to Unity Consciousness. Unity Consciousness rises from the waking state of consciousness to Cosmic Consciousness to God Consciousness to Unity Consciousness. Sequentially it rises and becomes more and more stabilized. It is a very beautiful thing to happen.  

‘That is destined to be the Real United Nations. Just the forming or coming into being of the Real United Nations is a small sign of another big transformation of the quality of world consciousness. . . .

‘It is a very beautiful area, so good. We would like to hear the efforts of our education experts and the response they are getting from this call to the world for the Real United Nations and Peace Government. This should become a fashion. The Peace Government has to become a fashion in the field of government. The Real United Nations has to become a fashion for all the members of the present organization.  

‘It does not matter if they remain the members of the present United Nations. A man is always a member of many clubs—this club and that club. Everyone is a member of many clubs. Every nation has a very natural liking to become a member of the existing United Nations, and if a new United Nations comes, the Real United Nations, they would like to be a member of the real international organization. All the people could remain members of the existing United Nations and become a member of the Real United Nations. Or they could live total life; they do not have to be member of any United Nations; they are naturally in themselves United Nations, Real United Nations.  

‘These organizations are no challenge to one another. One knows this much, another knows that much. In a market, one has oranges, and someone else has bananas or mangos; one has this, another that. One can buy a mango, a banana, an orange, and this and that also. Everyone would like to have some of each.  

‘So there is no restriction on being an official member of the Real United Nations due to being a member of the ordinary United Nations. The whole thing is one’s choice—how much one knows, how much one's parents or teachers have told one. It all depends upon how the children are informed and educated. . . . 

‘Change has to come; it must come. Now we are now bringing about a change which is going to be invincible. Invincibility is just the gracious light of God, the bliss of life—no more suffering, no more problems.’
