Opening Remarks

Maharishi: ‘Jai Guru Dev. What beautiful exhortations you have been telling to the problem-ridden world, Dr Hagelin. One more thing you can tell the world press today on my behalf is that the arrow has been shot. The arrow has left the bow, and it is hitting the target.

‘Now, the world press should see that Germany, Holland, Switzerland, and Denmark are inevitably rising to invincibility. It will be a joy for the world press to report that Holland is soon to become an invincible nation; Germany, soon, will be an invincible nation; Switzerland, soon, will be an invincible nation; Denmark will soon be an invincible nation. The arrow has left the bow, and it is hitting the target.

‘It does not depend on anyone to do it or not. The Constitution of the Universe, which is our favourite, is going to implement that absolute order in these countries. And how is that going to be? A few hundred people, a thousand, or two thousand people are going to be employed to make the nation invincible. Just as any government is employing people to serve the government, now the enlightened people are going to employ the unenlightened and train them to become enlightened very quickly, quickly, quickly, because the knowledge is very ripe.

‘The torch of light, that we hold, only needs to press the button. I am declaring today that these three, four important countries in the world—these isolated countries—very soon, within a few days, within a few weeks, within a few months are going to show invincibility in their national characteristic quality. Whatever destructive powers there are, the invincible power of Natural Law, the Constitution of the Universe, is far above any nuclear power or any of the maddening pursuits for peace and all that.

‘Tell the world press that the arrow has left the bow and is going to do the magic in this world very soon—maybe in a few weeks, maybe a few months, and that is all. The world is going to rise to a problem-free state. The world of ours, which has been problem-ridden for a long time, ages, is going to have a bright sunshine of a very bright future for all mankind.’

Question: The Type of News the Press Should Report

Dr Hagelin: ‘There is a question, Maharishi, from the press on this very subject. It very nicely follows the announcement that you just made.

‘The question is: During last week’s news conference, Maharishi delivered a message to the world press. He said, “The world press has helped to propagate the principles of Transcendental Meditation for the last fifty years. Now it is time for the world press to report on what is actually happening in world affairs as a result of the world-wide practice of Transcendental Meditation.” As a writer, I would like to follow-up on Maharishi’s message, and would like to ask Maharishi if he would please elaborate a little. Specifically, what events or trends in world affairs would Maharishi like the press to follow and report? Does Maharishi mean for the world press to report on the fact that, with so many people meditating, there is now more peace in the world and better relations between former hostile nations such as China and Taiwan or the fact that, with collective consciousness rising with so many meditators, there are now more and more people living a healthier lifestyle, eating organic foods, and using natural medicines? What events was Maharishi referring to? What kind of stories is Maharishi thinking about?’ 

Maharishi: ‘Whatever the press reporters see in the market, that is what they report. When it rains in the market, they say, “Quickly the doors were shut, because it rained.” Whatever they see, they report. On that I said, “Whatever you see.” When you see a country destroying other countries, you report, “This is what is happening.” Now when you see countries thriving in freedom, affluence, lack of poverty, peace, happiness, and invincibility, report what you see—that is all. Report what you see.

‘You are in a habit of sincerely seeing and reporting what you see. When you see bombs bursting here, there, like that, this is what you report. Now you will see that all these negative things will be things of the past in the same way as, during the night, the darkness overtakes, and all activities are in the darkness. But the activities during the day are a different thing altogether—peace, comfort.

‘Now what do they want to see, and what do they want to report in Germany? The German government has been under the influence of the American government. . . . This is what the press is reporting. The same thing is in Holland. The people of Holland are feeling so uncomfortable that their people are being sent to the army under the order of the Americans. The government of Holland has gone under the thumb of America. The people of Holland are resenting this.

‘Raja Willem has come out to say, “I have the knowledge. I want to make my Netherlands invincible.” And Paul Gelderloos, a very successful, intelligent young millionaire of Holland, has come out to say, “I want my country to be invincible.” It is not only these two people; it is the spirit of the nation that is calling to come out of slavery.

‘When I call it slavery, I am taking it to the extreme value, but the situation in the coming weeks, in the coming months, in the coming year, will be that Germany will roar like a lion, an invincible Germany, and Holland will roar like an invincible Holland. They will all be friendly to America, because with invincibility, one rises in power to protect others, but not by becoming a slave.

‘Wrong things will simply disappear as darkness disappears with the dawning of the morning sun. The sun is rising, the arrow has left the bow, and it is beyond anyone to stop the arrow from hitting the target. It is beyond anyone; it is beyond anyone to stop the arrow hitting the target.

‘I am telling the world press today to watch the rise of freedom, particularly in the countries of Holland, Switzerland, and Germany. These are big nations, where one single Raja has risen up to say, “I want to make my country invincible.” With one person, like the one sun rising in the deep darkness of the night, there is light. There is nothing secret about the spreading of the light when the sun is rising.
It is very beautiful.

‘Dr Hagelin, you have rung the bell of invincibility, the bell of eureka. You have achieved what you have been wanting to achieve for the last so many years in the field of politics. You wanted politics to be protective and to play its parental role for the people, but it was going in the wrong direction. You have held it up with the knowledge of a unifying nature, which is prevailing permanently, perpetually. It is not a phenomenon of one time or one place. It is a universal phenomenon. The sun is rising up; the light is all over—at least in these three, four countries. I have no hesitation to say that these are the countries which are going to rise with a fortunate destiny. . . .

‘No power in the world is able to stop the invincible power of the Constitution of the Universe when it is rising to influence all the man-made constitutions, which are full of human failings and human weaknesses. All these very bad systems of politics will simply disappear, the same way as the darkness disappears with the onset of light. . . .

‘Now the antidote has come up, and that is the Peace Government. Peace will prevail. Violence will disappear. Where will it go? Nobody will be able to locate and find it. This is going to happen in those countries in particular.

‘Since the press asked me what to see and what to say, then I say, “Report what you see.” I am giving you the picture of what you are going to see. You are going to see Germany rising to invincibility. . . .

‘Raja Felix, the Raja of Switzerland, is rising with a voice to make Switzerland heaven on earth. For all this spirit of freedom, the total knowledge of Natural Law, the unifying knowledge of the Constitution of the Universe, which protects all the infinite diversity of the galactic universe, is rising— is on the rise, is on the rise. Things unwanted will be out of sight. Things needed will be the guiding light of all generations to come. That is our pride, our proud privilege. Our proud privilege is the power of knowledge over the weakness of ignorance.

‘Ignorance has no power. The power of violence is the power of the weak. When the weak cannot do anything, then they begin to destroy others and destroy themselves thereby. Today’s time is different. As Dr Hagelin has been saying, “The science of today is science of today.” It is a more complete science today; it was a less complete science yesterday, which created Hiroshima and all this destruction in the world. Times have changed. They are changing. There are those who are able to see the very fine fabric of change, and others who will see when it is a big, drastic improvement and change.

‘Holland, the Netherlands, is rising to be an invincible Holland. Raja Willem has had these little planes fly on the horizon of Holland. They said, “Invincible Netherlands—Raja Willem,” “Invincible Holland—Peter Gelderloos.” Peter Gelderloos is a millionaire from Holland. He has come out to say, “My country must be invincible. It cannot remain a slave to any foreign power. It can be friendly to all foreign powers, but invincible in its own right. Then it will meet all the powers on their own level.”

‘Slavery—slavery to power—does not behove any nation. It does not behove the German nation; it does not behove the Dutch nation; it does not behove Switzerland; it does not behove anyone. What behoves is reality—freedom, freedom, freedom.

‘There was the pursuit of freedom by the forefathers of the present political world in America. Ask the present government, “Where is the pursuit of freedom?” They are devouring any freedom in any nation. They are going to disappear—that is all. This will disappear due to its own value.

‘Only virtue will thrive; only positivity will thrive; only freedom will thrive. Invincibility will thrive above all. This knowledge is taking every national consciousness to a high level of invincibility that is on the level of self-sufficiency, not on the level of poverty. That is why our campaign is to eliminate poverty.

‘I would like the world press to hear Dr Feldman, the Finance Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, who has come out with a programme that has a huge, unimaginable budget. With that, he is going to eliminate poverty.

‘I would like Dr Hagelin to ask our Finance Minister to tell the world what he has been publicizing in the Herald Tribune every day for the last weeks. He could read out the text from the Herald Tribune. It will be interesting. It will be interesting to see what the instruments are through which this strong call to the world, to begin to enjoy freedom and invincibility, is coming forth. It is coming forth from that fully awakened intelligence which is supported by the Constitution of the Universe, the unifying principle of Natural Law, total Natural Law, the knowledge of total Natural Law—simple, clear, total Natural Law—for which absolutely nothing is impossible.

‘I said, “The arrow has left the bow.” Hear it in terms of economics today; hear it in terms of politics today. It is going to over-ride all the weaknesses of the world economy and world politics, taking the world economy to the level of its fulfilment. The fulfilment of economy is affluence, fulfilment, invincibility, fearlessness, sovereignty—real sovereignty.’  

Question: World Trends for 2006

Dr Hagelin: ‘Maharishi, this trend towards peace brings up a very interesting question. There is an extraordinary article today in the Washington Post, and the headline is “Peace on Earth? Increasingly, Yes.” It says, “Seen through the eyes of the media, the world would appear to be an ever more dangerous place. However, the media and most people, including many leading policy makers and scholars, are wrong. The reality is that armed conflict and nearly all other forms of political violence have decreased. The world is more peaceful than it was. Why has this change attracted so little attention? In part, because the global media give far more coverage to wars that start than to wars that quietly end. But the Human Security Report, an independent study funded by five countries and published in the Oxford University Press, presents a portrait of global security that is sharply at odds with conventional wisdom. The report reveals that after five decades of increase, the number of armed conflicts started to fall worldwide in the early 1990s, and the decline has accelerated. By 2003 there were 40% fewer conflicts than in 1992, and the deadliest conflicts—those with 1,000 or more battle deaths—fell by 80%.” And so on and so forth, the article continues.

‘This is just at the time when Maharishi started to introduce to the world large numbers of Yogic Flyers in different parts of the world, especially in India, the land of the Veda. So the world is changing in a really demonstrable way. Particularly this year, we have seen, especially since Maharishi started to institute larger groups of Yogic Flyers and Vedic Pandits in India, a very remarkable unwinding in the critical hotspots in the world, producing a far less dangerous place than even a year ago.

‘The question for Maharishi is: Maharishi, this week the whole world is preparing for the coming New Year. This past year, like any year, has had its share of upheavals and traumatic events, but overall it has been characterized by falling crime rates, declining global violence, a rejection of military confrontation as a means of foreign policy, the unraveling of long-standing regional rivalries in nuclear trouble spots, and in general has seen rising peace in the world. This describes 2005. The question is: What is Maharishi’s wish for the world in this coming year of 2006? Does Maharishi foresee a major global transformation?’ 

Maharishi: ‘I see the destruction of the destroyers, whatever little of them may remain. I see the dawn of a new fortune for mankind. I see the human race rising to a level of enlightenment, full of knowledge in tune with the Constitution of the Universe, which administers the universe with perfect order, always perfect order.

‘It is not a wish. With the grace of Guru Dev, with the grace of the Vedic Tradition, the eternal light of the Constitution of the World is being brought to human awareness now. I have counted the very important countries in the world which are rising in dignity and shaking off slavery to foreign powers, whatever may be the foreign power. But now, all these countries will be the shining stars in the family of nations to guide the destiny of the rest of the countries in the world.

‘It is not a wish. It is being brought about by the arrow of knowledge that has left the bow and is going to purify world consciousness.’

Question: The Masters of the Vedic Tradition

Dr Hagelin: ‘This question for you, Maharishi, has been with us for some time but perhaps, before taking silence and before the New Year, this last press conference of 2005 might be an opportunity for Maharishi to address this question if he wishes.

‘Maharishi gives supreme gratitude to his teacher, Guru Dev, and to the teachers of the Vedic Tradition—to the knowledge of total Natural Law which is bringing peace to the world. This is the holiday season in many countries, a time to give thanks and to recognize our great blessings. I was wondering if Maharishi would take this time to talk about Guru Dev and the Vedic Masters so the world could gain a greater appreciation of these enlightened teachers and the very special blessings they have brought to the world. Who are the Masters of the Vedic Tradition? What is their role today and throughout the corridor of time?’ 

Maharishi: ‘The Masters of the Holy Tradition are the embodiment of the Constitution of the Universe. The Constitution of the Universe is an eternal script of the Veda. The Vedic script is the eternal script of the Constitution of the Universe, which administers the universe with perfect order, perfect order all the time.

‘Teachers of this have an eternal tradition. It is an eternal tradition, an unbroken, continuous stream of pure knowledge. Masters are the embodiment of this knowledge, the physical embodiment of this knowledge, speaking pure knowledge.

‘Their speech is the speech from the transcendental field, which is eternally the same. Its authenticity is on the basis of its non-changing nature. Its non-changing nature is based on the self-interacting dynamics of its own quality. It interacts with itself, and therefore, there is no chance of its destruction or change. It is an eternal, self-sufficient speech of the Constitution of the Universe, the law that upholds the integrity of the universe.

‘Therefore, even though in every generation it has a physical body, it is the embodiment of the non-physical, eternal totality of knowledge and power of action—the embodiment of Total Knowledge. That is Brahm.

‘Brahmananda Saraswati, the name of my Guru Dev, the name of my master, is the Vedic custodian of Total Knowledge, pure knowledge, self-referral knowledge. It is an indestructible knowledge, because it is self-referral. There is nothing from outside that can disturb it. It is always in its purity, always in its purity, always in its purity, spoken by the embodiment of it. The knower of the totality of knowledge is himself the embodiment of Totality, is the embodiment of eternity, infinity, Totality, all power of action in infinite silence. The embodiment of this total Brahm, that is the master, always.

‘Just because an individual is here today, we do not know where he will be tomorrow or the next day—gone, nothing. So it is not the individual opinion, it is not the individual word, that could be authentic for anyone else to follow. Authenticity belongs to eternity, something that is an all-time reality and cannot be changed by anyone, cannot be altered by anyone. That is authenticity.

‘In this case, authenticity belongs to the Veda. Authenticity belongs to the Veda. The Veda is the expression of total Natural Law. For the sake of attributing to something, we say “the Light of God”. What is God? Omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, everywhere—present everywhere. Everything is the expression of that, the Constitution of the Universe.

‘The place of the teacher is supreme in the stream of knowledge, in the ocean of knowledge, in the drops of knowledge. It is total Natural Law that we are enjoying and we are radiating. We are ringing the bell of invincibility in our present problem-ridden world. We are happy to see that the sound, wherever it is going and is being heard, is awakening the individual to his own cosmic reality, and human race is rising to that level of divinity.

‘Any number of descriptions will not be enough, just as no amount of description would be enough to describe completely the Constitution of the Universe. Infinite are the number of galactic expressions which constitute the universe. That is governed by that silent, but fully awake, Natural Law—in one word “the Will of God”.

‘The story of truth, the story of Total Knowledge, the story of the reality of the individual and human race, is enormous. It is bliss. It is flowing bliss in the eternity of time, in the infinity of space. It is enormously omnipresent. We have bathed in that ocean—fortunate we are—on its own level of self-sufficiency, the self-referral quality of Being. In whatever glorious words, in whatever simple words we express it, it is invincible. That is the word that comes this year.

‘So the new year for the world will be the Year of Invincibility—the Year of Enlightenment. These few countries here and there will be like bright shining stars to guide the destiny of all mankind in the coming year and in all the coming centuries from here on.

‘All glory to the grace of Guru Dev, our spiritual master, Brahmananda Saraswati, personified Total Knowledge, personified Constitution of the Universe, personification of eternal Being. All glory to his grace which fell on us so completely that we can only sing his praise all the time. No matter what we say, the aspects of his praise are endlessly going on everywhere, all the time. All the different fields of science and religion, all the technologies and occupations, all these are different sparks of the same tree of knowledge.

‘It is very great that we had this time today to say, “Jai Guru Dev”, and to ask the press to report what they see now. These three, four, five, six countries are rising in enlightenment and are going to be rising to invincibility. All glory to Guru Dev. Jai Guru Dev.’
