August 2006 Press Conference Highlights
Opening Remarks
Maharishi:
‘Jai Guru Dev. Whatever we can do, we are doing. We are hitting the core of the universe—the very core of the universe—the tender intelligence on which the universe is held. And in its state of holding, it has given itself to that universality, and universality accepting it. The phenomenon is happening. So, if anyone in the universe, it is we who have our awareness open to that power which holds the divided universe, highly expanded universe, into a unified state. We are experiencing it. . . .
‘We are doing everything that we can. We know and we think we have knowledge enough. What is necessary is the
number of Yogic Flyers, and countries are getting prepared. Our people
are practising our technology in every country—in Europe and America
and also Latin America. We are gathering more power.
‘The world press—they can say what they see. They say what they see; they say what they see. Invite the press to say
what they see. They have been publicizing war and terror and all those
negative things. Now is the time for them to change from there—to see the changed
phenomenon of coherence—of better, more confidence among nations. That is also going on. We said
last week and every week we are saying, we are repeating, that it will
not take long.
‘Inform the press that the time is coming, the time has come. This
is the time to observe what is happening—how, slowly, the history
of all negativity is changing into all positivity. Reports are coming
from so many countries. The economy starts to be better, and every
field of national life is starting to be on more and more positive terms, positive terms.
Tell the press to write what they see.’
Question:
Deeper
Experiences of the Unified Field in a Group
Dr
Morris: ‘Maharishi, thank you. Maharishi’s message
to the press is that you have been focused primarily on the reporting
of war and terror and other negativity, but now is the time to change
from there and begin to report all the positive things that are happening
in the world—for example, the growth of the economy, more confidence
between nations, and all kinds of good things that are happening.
‘Maharishi
has been repeating that it will not take a long time for the complete
transformation of the world now. The time has come, and the time is here
for the press to observe what has happened and what is happening, and
how quickly the history of all negativity is changing to all positivity.
The economy and every other phase of life is going to be better and better.
This is Maharishi’s admonition to the press today: watch out for
all of these changes that will be occurring day by day from now on and
report those to the world. This will be a great joy for the world press
and a great achievement for the world press.
‘Maharishi, there are a few questions, if there is time.’
Maharishi:
‘I
think it is always a joy to answer questions.’
Dr
Morris: ‘Very good. Maharishi, why do people have deeper
experiences of the Unified Field in a group than when they are practising
Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying on their own?’
Maharishi:
‘One
candle and many candles. That is the answer. Why do many candles have
more light? Because they are many, so it must be more. One candle—it
is light. Two must be double light—more light, more light. So that
is then the answer. Why do many candles bring more light? Because they
are many—that is all. More light is there because there are many
candles. That is the reason. A larger number is better.’
Question:
The
Designer of the Human Physiology
Dr
Morris: ‘Maharishi, another question is: Who designed the
human physiology, and what is the capability of the human physiology?’
Maharishi:
‘The
designer of anything in the world is the same designer. And who is the
designer? The totality of intelligence in the unmanifest state. It is
the unmanifest state. It is the unmanifest state that designs.
‘The example is: Who has designed this big, huge tree? The sap.
Where is the sap? The sap is in the hollowness of the seed. This hollowness
designs. That which is capable of designing everything is that which designs.
The designer, the creator, is the unmanifest. The creator is unmanifest,
because it is only the unmanifest that pervades everything. To design
anything means to bring it out from the unmanifest to the manifest to
manifest. So the designer is the self-interacting dynamics of infinity—self-interacting
dynamics of infinity—the unmanifest field of infinity.
‘The same thing designs all the trees and everything. Who designs
the sun and the moon and the stars and this, this, this? It is the same
designer of the particle who is the designer of the universe—wholeness,
totality of Natural Law, which pervades every point of creation. It is
from the unmanifest field that it designs. The designer is unmanifest.
“Unmanifest” means present everywhere. That is why it has
to be that the designer of everything is the same designer of anything.
All these animals and birds and all the huge, enormous diversity—who
is the designer? The designer is the unity which pervades everything.
That is it. That is what we know to be.’
Question:
The
Nature of Time Changing
Dr
Morris: ‘Thank you, Maharishi, beautiful. Another question
is: Maharishi has been remarking in the press conferences that the very
nature of time itself has changed. And Maharishi even has given credit
to time as the author of these great changes that are going on in the
world. Could Maharishi explain what he means by the time changing? What
made it change?’
Maharishi:
‘It
is its nature to remain non-change and change. Both things are there.
It is in the nature of the ultimate reality which has, in its nature,
a qualitative quantitative value of non-change and change. That is why
the universe is “versified” unity, or unified versification.
Both things work together. Time comes in between the things—this
thing, this thing, this thing—but this thing at the basis is one
thing, Totality. And that is the basis; that is the Creator. That is what
we say, “Wholeness, Totality”. Science says, “Wholeness”.
Religion says, “God”. It is a different value. God is such
a sublime thing. Once one says, “God”, a wave of silent wisdom
and bliss pervades with the word “God”.
‘So people choose what they like to. And everything is there for
everyone. And the technique is, when you want to be active, you have to
be silent. The more silent you are, the more active you will be. If you
are absolute silence, you are endowed with all activity—Totality.
‘It is the knowledge of one’s own inner Self, or inner Being,
or inner existence, or inner intelligence, that really achieves what one
wants to achieve on the outside. If the foundation is good, you can raise
the building to any height. That is the principle. If the awareness is
open to one’s own inner totality of intelligence, then the intelligence
becomes creative intelligence to that magnitude. The deeper you are in
yourself, the more capable you are on the surface of life.
‘That is the education we want to promote. And we are pretty well
on the way to creating that kind of society in the world, where positivity
and bliss will be more prevailing than the other side of it.’
Question:
The
Cycles of Time
Dr
Morris: ‘Maharishi, just to complete that question then:
Is the change of time to a “new dawn of a good fortune for all humankind”
an automatic aspect of the cycles of time? Is it happening just as an
expression of the cycles of time? Could it have been predicted hundreds
of years or thousands of years in advance that such a change would happen
at this moment in human history?’
Maharishi:
‘Yes,
a big yes. Everything is all ordained. Everything is all predicted. The
history of the universe is the history of the universe. It is the universe—it
is all unified versification. So it is all predictable. It is all predicted
what will happen. It is all predicted.
‘It is all in the Vedic Literature. It is all predicted—the
time of Sat Yuga, Kali Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga: four big magnitudes
of time. There is an all good time, a fifty per cent good tim, a twenty-five
per cent good time, down to zero per cent or at least one or five per
cent. Zero per cent is everyday at night. Just as night and day are in
twenty-four hours, similarly there is multiplicity in one's awareness—fifty
per cent of it or five per cent of it, like that.
‘It is all predictable. There is Vedic Mathematics, Jyotish, which
predicts everything that is going to happen from one point . Jyotish is
that mathematical calculation which takes the birth point—the time
somebody is born—and then takes out the long history of all the
one hundred, two hundred, or thousand years one has to survive. So everything
is known from one point. In the Vedic Mathematics nothing is obscure;
absolutely nothing is obscure. Jyotish is the name of that system which
unfolds anything and everything from the knowledge of one little point—the
the point of birth time. The point of the birth time lays open the whole
history of the thousand or five thousand years or five years—as
long as the life is there.
‘Everything is predictable. It is a matter of how much one knows
in a particular direction. It is a matter of knowing—what one knows
and in what direction. There is that system of building the houses—Sthapatya
Veda. You can build either fortune-creating houses or the other way: misfortune-creating
houses. If you go by Vastu calculations for the architectural drawings,
you can create a fortune-creating house; or if you falter in your calculation
here and there, you will be creating a misfortune-creating house. It is
all predictable.
‘Anyone in the world—this is a broad outline for the press—living
in a house with a southern entrance will always be in difficulty. Anyone
living in a house facing east will always be healthy, happy, have good
relations and everything nice, nice, nice. Anyone living on a southern
slope or western slope will be facing misfortunes, quarrels, and all that.
‘It is all predicted. If people know, they do not live in houses
on a western or southern slope or with a south or west facing entrance—no,
they do not. They always prefer to be facing the rising sun. The entrance
of the house must face east, and if there is a slope, it must be to the
east. Otherwise there is misfortune—that is all. If there is water
and it is in the south, some river nearby in the south, there will be
a misfortune-creating home. It is all written down; there is nothing new
about it. Only, if the man knows it, he follows it, he enjoys it. If he
does not know, he gets into misfortune. He does not know how or why all
his children are fighting together, all his relations are fighting together,
all the neighbors are fighting together. He does not know.
‘But the lack of knowledge of law is no excuse. Whether you know
or not, if you put your hand in fire, it will burn. You cannot say, “I
did not know that the fire would burn my hand.” If you behave like
that, you will be burned—that is all. If you behave the other way,
you will have other consequences. Everything is set, set, set. Nothing
is by chance in life; everything is set. One winds up with one’s
own karma. Even in English we have the phrase, “As you sow, so shall
you reap,”—that is all. “As you sow, so shall you reap”—that
is all.
‘The press knows we are bringing out that new knowledge which will
make people live their right to enjoy. Life is bliss; everyone has to
be blissful—that is all.’
Question:
The
Cost of Reconstructing the World
Dr
Morris: ‘Thank you, Maharishi. Also, in that connection,
last week you said that the whole world is going to be reconstructed according
to the principles of fortune-creating building. In previous press conferences,
His Excellency Dr Benjamin Feldman, Minister of Finance and Planning of
the Global Country of World Peace, has mentioned a figure of three hundred
trillion dollars to rebuild the whole world. So, Maharishi, how is it
possible to rebuild the whole world when the price is so high?
‘Every building in the whole world has to be reconstructed to be
a fortune-creating building, and the budget Dr Feldman gave for that was
three hundred trillion dollars, which is a very large amount of money.
So how will it be possible for all the buildings in the world to become
fortune creating when the world needs to find three hundred trillion dollars
to do it?’
Maharishi:
‘So
it is not that one man that has to build the whole thing. It is not one
man that builds the whole thing. One man will build his house. He is building
anyway. Houses are being built everywhere anyway. Now we are asking the
builders to build fortune-creating homes. So this building phenomenon
is not one man’s.
‘We have calculated what the cost would be to do this thing, but
no one has to have that three hundred trillion in order to do the job.
It is being done by small units. Infinity is made of points [laughter].
All the big amounts are made of small, small amounts.
‘We are taking each country, and we are taking the population of
each country. Like that, a single man has to build a house anyway. If
his house has a fire today, tomorrow he has to build a house, whether
he has money or not. So it is the small amounts that bring down the big
amount to small amounts. Small amount by small amount achieves the purpose
of a big amount—that is all. It is a simple thing.’
Question:
Reaching
a Time of No Suffering
Dr
Morris: ‘Yes, Maharishi, it is a very beautiful answer.
Maharishi, also the question arose: Maharishi often speaks in his addresses
to the press of the time of Raam that had no suffering—no suffering
in the world. The description of that is a time of no sickness, everyone
living a full length of their life, everyone kindly, everyone affluent,
everyone comely, everything good. Can that level be reached in our age?’
Maharishi:
‘Of
course, yes, because the science or the knowledge that does it is called
Jyotish. Jyotish is the knowledge that can calculate exactly what is today,
what it will be tomorrow, what will be the next day, next day, next day.
Jyotish is the calculation. It is a mathematical calculation, that is
all. Those who know it, they know it; those who do not know, they do not
know. So everything is calculable in life. Everything is calculated in
life, whether one knows it or not.
‘Those who meditate and contact the inner self-referral intelligence
are able to design mistake-free decisions—mistake free—because
they are in the source of thought. And the source of thought is always
self-referral intelligence. If the awareness is open to that intelligence,
then the man is intelligent. It is the contact—it is lively intelligence—that
makes a man intelligent. Then he does not make mistakes, and he is always
mistake free; so he is always happy and gay [laughter]. It
is beautiful.
‘It is a matter of knowledge. And knowledge is not so much gained
by books—no. Knowledge is gained by the source of knowledge, where
the knowledge is. And where is the knowledge? The knowledge is total in
one’s own self-referral consciousness. So the conscious awareness
has to dive into the ocean of consciousness within. Then one is an intelligent
man and will not make mistakes and his world will be a mistake-free world,
happy world, fulfilled world. In the religious language, we say, “The
world is the light of God.” The inner quality of everyone’s
life is that bliss—ocean of bliss.’
Question:
Expressions
of the Reality of God
Dr
Morris: ‘Thank you Maharishi, that is very inspiring, beautiful news for the world. Perhaps one last question if it would be alright. Maharishi often speaks about the reality of the transcendental field of consciousness as the Light of God within. He also speaks about the Constitution of the Universe -- total Natural Law -- as the Will of God within. And sometimes Maharishi also says that all that he is really doing is the grace of God. Could Maharishi comment, is there a difference between the Light of God, the Will of God, and the Grace of God?’
Maharishi:
‘No.
They are different expressions. They mean the same thing—the ultimate,
the unity value of all diversity, unity of all diversity. When it is awake,
then the choice will always be in the Totality. Then the choice will not
be in small, small floundering of things. The choice will always be for
total, total, total, total. And there is, “I am the divine. I am
the light of God.”
‘The word “light of God” is so precious; it is so sublime;
it is so fortunate; it is so divine; it is so self-sufficient. It is enormous.
That is why we keep referring to that; we keep referring to that. Nothing
can come to that level of reality. No expression can come near that level
of reality.’
